The concept of overfitting the data in GLM

Dear friends,

GLM is very popular as a statistical framework in the fMRI data analysis. In the context of Resting-state Analysis, if we put too many noise components to regress out (e.g. obtained through ICA performed at the earlier stage), is it possible that overfitting occurs?
