The differents in GRF correction between DPABI View and REST viewer

Is GRF correction in DPABI different with REST Viewer? I applied GRF correction and found positive results using REST viewer, but when I using DPABI to confirm, no cluster was shown. Why is this? And how to address this problem? Thank you!

Hi,

The smoothness estimation is a little different between REST Viewer and DPABI Viewer. The former one estimates the smoothness from the statistical image. The latter one can estimate the smoothness from the 4D residual.

You can check how the smoothness differ first.

The smoothness estimation of these two tools are exactly different. Which one is more reasonable? I alppied smoothing with 4mm FMHW after calculating ReHo value. But the  smoothness estimation in DPABI viewer was approximate 11mm, which was far more than I used in calculating. Thanks!

Hi,

I will think the one estimated from 4D residual is more reasonable. Although you applied 4mm FWMH in smoothing, the resulted smoothness can be much larger. Multiple correciton should be based on the effective smoothness.

BTW, when I did not input mask file in GRF correction, clicking the "estimate smoothness on statistical image directly" will show a diffrent FWHM( approximately 4*7*5mm) from a specfic mask was inputed( approximately 20mm).  And If I used the dpabi to statistical analysis, the FWHM was automatically presented in dpabi viewer ( approximately 12mm). When I input SPM.xVol.FWHM in the matlab, another  FWHM was shown ( approximately 6.5mm)., which was different from the one automatically presented. What is difference between these 4 FWHM?

Hi,

1. When estimating FWHM, you should give a mask. Or it will estimate across the whole bounding box.

2. The FWHM appears in DPABI is the one estimated through DPABI Statistical Analysis. DPABI Statistical Analysis will automatically estimate the smoothness based on the 4D residual.

3. Where does SPM.xVol.FWHM come from? SPM Statistical Analysis?

OK. Let me have a test on SPM statistical analysis. Have you tried FSL? What's the estimated smoothness in FSL?
